Welcome to Wild Odysseys!

Hey there! My name is Cody, and welcome to Wild Odysseys. If you’re reading this, you’re probably researching your next big trip, quality gear reviews, or tips on travel hacking. You came to the right place!

Sitting in a lovely cafe in Turkey! Pardon the bad lighting.

I have traveled extensively and lived all around the United States. My first big move was in early 2014 when I moved to Alaska. I spent three amazing years then and traveled throughout the state and the Pacific Northwest. After leaving Alaska, I moved to Maryland for steadier work. In early 2017 I took my first international trip with my best friend to Thailand.

After this, I was completely hooked. As soon as I got back from Thailand, I planned and booked a trip to Germany the following month. Life unfortunately did not allow me to travel again until I moved to Florida in 2019. After moving, I dedicated myself to learning about travel hacking, minimalist travel, and vowed that I would see the world one country at a time.

I also like food. Can you tell?

How do I do this?

The best answer, is not easily. Like most of you reading this, I have a full time job, a home, a family, and a hell of a lot of responsibilities. BUT, that doesn’t mean you have to be a digital nomad or that travel is impossible for you.

All of the money I make from my actual job is what pays for this site, my camera gear, and all of my travel. I have put in extra hours to save for vacation, worked as much overtime as I was allowed, and scraped together every last dime I could to make this dream my reality. I’m here to help you accomplish the same thing!

When it comes to where I travel, that’s a whole different story. I am drawn to the places that most tourists either don’t want to go, don’t research, or are passed over for more popular tourist destinations. My travel style is spontaneous and erratic. I never have solid plans, I don’t always know how to get from point A to point B, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

So what’s the point?

The whole point of this blog is to inspire all of you to get a passport and experience the world. This blog is for everyone from the experienced traveler to the person that’s never left their hometown. I want everyone to be open minded, immerse themselves in new cultures, and to just enjoy what the world has to offer.

What am I pointing at? You’ll never know.

Thank you so much for following my adventures. More to come!
